During the London 2012 Olympics Chief Productions wanted to create an brand awareness campaign that stood out from the 360 degree Olympic noise that was bombarding every communication channel.
The solution was to create an online campaign, introducing a tongue in cheek game which visitors could play whilst watching events. The alternative game categorised the real athletes into fun categories like ‘baldies’ ‘fatties’ ‘blingers’ and ‘gingers.’ When the athletes you selected in your group won, real prizes were awarded to leaderboard champions.
The responsive campaign site was launched and promoted through Facebook and Twitter, gaining over 2000 likes and 600 Twitter followers over 4 weeks with over 10,000 unique visits to the site where a healthy 46% conversion delivered over 500 email contacts.
